Development of the general project

Two new stretches of the Basque Y have been approved

The Ministry of Public Works will construct the stretches Eskoriatza - Aramaio and Aramaio - Arrasate/Mondragón, after awarding the first stretch in March and approving four new stretches in September. The total budget of the project is 191 million Euro.

The Eskoriatza - Aramaio stretch will be 5.58 km-long and the most outstanding works are the Zarimutz (261 m), Uriarte (282 m) and the GI-3343 (471 m) viaducts and the double way tunnels Uruburu-1 (475 m), Uruburu-2 (460 m), Mazmela (384 m) and Induspo (2,224 m). For this stretch, the estimate cost is 113 million Euro and the project deadline is 30 months.

The stretch that links Aramaio and Arrasate/Mondragón is 3.39 km-long. Etxebarri (312 m) and A-2620 (1,401 m) viaducts, Achetarri tunnel (568 m) and the 1,196 m-long PAET construction (the overtaking and parking place for trains) are the highlights of this stretch. The project deadline is 30 months and its budget 78 million Euro.
