Construction completed on the Boroa - Lemoa viaduct, on the Amorebieta/Etxano - Lemoa stretch

06/29/2012

Adif (company dependant on the Basque Ministry of Public Works) has completed the construction of the Boroa - Lemoa viaduct included in the Amorebieta/Etxano - Lemoa stretch of the Vitoria-Gasteiz - Bilbao - Donostia-San Sebastian High Speed Line.

The viaduct, which links the Ganzelai and San Román tunnels, runs over the location of the future Boroa - Lemoa motorway and is 62.4 metres long. The deck comprises two 14-metre wide concrete slabs, which will house a dual international gauge track. It rests on pillars with a maximum height of 9.5 metres, leaving a gauge of 5.5 metres.

Amorebieta/Etxano - Lemoa Stretch

The Amorebieta/Etxano - Lemoa stretch is 3,449 metres long, of which over 72% runs underground. This stretch includes the San Román, Ganzelai and Marragueruena tunnels, which total 2,468 metres of the entire length, as well as the 62-metre long viaduct over the Boroa - Lemoa motorway.

Work is currently being carried out on 12 stretches, equivalent to over 60% of the route not counting accesses to the two Basque capitals on the Vitoria-Gasteiz - Bilbao branch. To this we must add the stretches of: Arrazua - Ubarrundia - Legutiano II (5.2 kilometres), and Durango - Abadiño (3.5 kilometres), which have been completed.
