La Y vasca

Apart from being part of the Spanish network, the Basque Y belongs also to the European high-speed system. From a strategic point of view, the EU, through the Commission of Transport, supports its construction by means of European funds.

Apart from being part of the peninsula's network, the Basque Y is also part of the European high-speed service. The European Union endorses the building of the railway through the Commission of transports both from the European funds' contribution and a strategic point of view.

Due to the peninsula's situation as a preferential way to Europe, the Spanish Ministry of Public Works has included the Basque Y in its strategic projects as part of the government's High-Speed Plan. The need to give priority to this insfrastructure has boosted an agreement with the Basque Department of Transport and Public Works, which guarantees the quick implementation of the building works.

The arrival of the high-speed train into the Basque capitals will require a joint intervention of all the administrations involved, as the city accesses will mean a great milestone in terms of town planning. Thus, the project contemplates the creation of commissions in which Regional Councils and City Councils would actively participate both in towns with station and in those municipalities in which the route passes through.
